Request

All registered students and staff of the university are library members by default. Staff ID Card and Student ID Card are the library cards. Members of this type are known as internal members and are entitled to use all the library facilities including books circulation and Access to Online Databases.

Interlibrary Loan

  1. The Inter Library Loan (ILL) delivers copies of journal articles and book chapters from participating libraries in Malaysia.
  2. Items requested should only be related to the research and teaching functions at the University.
  3. ILL is provided to support University-related research and teaching. ILL may not be used to request materials for work for private employers, for personal non-university research, or for recreational reading.
  4. This service is available to any user in good standing with the library (no fines, overdue materials, incorrect address and contact no.)
  5. The library reserves the right to deny your request if you have a history of sustained abuse to library policy.
  1. Items not owned by Open University Malaysia
  2. Items not available in Library Databases (Digital Collections)
  3. Items missing from Library Collections
  1. Items published in the current calendar year.
  2. Items owned by Open University Malaysia (unless all copies are lost or missing).
  3. Items available in Library Databases (Digital Content)
  4. Bound periodicals and magazines
  5. Ebooks and downloadable audio.
  6. Musical recordings, software, or video recordings in any format.
  7. Non circulating materials (Reference and Thesis)
  8. Novels or any leisure reading materials
  9.  

You are entitled to a maximum of five (5) items at any one time.

  1. The staff from the learning center will contact the student to pick up the requested book when the book has arrived.
  2. You may contact your selected Learning Centre to check on the courier status of your requested books within 3 working days upon receiving the confirmation email from the Library.
  3. Books that have been couriered to respective Learning Centre will be returned to the Main Library if they are not collected 2 weeks after arrival.

You are expected to return any Interlibrary Loan items by the due date and in the same condition you received them. Fines will be assessed for materials returned late.

  1. Please return Interlibrary Loan items on time. (you will be charged any overdue fines incurred by the lending library).
  2. Please return Interlibrary Loan materials to the place where you collect them. (Your Learning Centre)
  3. You are advised to return any Interlibrary loan materials to the staff on duty at the Service Counter. You will need to sign the “Interlibrary Loan Request Form”. No proxy or any form of delegation is allowed when returning the books.
  4. By default, Interlibrary loan materials are not renewable. However, subject to the rules and regulations of the owning library, any request for renewal must be made within 7 working days before the due date. Failure to comply will affect your future request.
  5. You are responsible for the books you have borrowed. Any damages or losses will be charged to your account.
  6. Any other rules for book loan facilities remain standing.

Document Delivery Service

  1. The Document Delivery Service (DDS) delivers copies of journal articles and book chapters from participating libraries  in Malaysia.

Ready items will be emailed to the registered email address. The articles requested will be sent in the softcopy.

Request Book: Send to My Learning Centre

  1. This service is entitled for OUM staff members and students ONLY.
  2. Part-time Tutors and or Part-time Lecturers are not eligible for this service.
  3. You are allowed to request for a maximum of five (5) books at any one time.
  4. Requests will be processed within three (3) working days.
  5. All correspondence will be made via email ONLY.
  6. A copy of your request form will be emailed to you for your reference.
  7. The Digital Library adheres to the Copyright Act as stated in the Malaysian Copyright Act 1987 and amendments up to 2012.
  8. Please confirm the book(s) that you requested within two (2) days upon receiving the   confirmation email from the Library. Requests will be considered void if no confirmation reply is  made.
  1. The staff from the learning center will contact the student to pick up the requested book when the book has arrived.

  1. Borrowed items need to be returned to the Learning Center before overdue. The staff at the Learning Center will courier the book to the Main Library.
  2. Please contact the library if students wish to renew the items.
